Gainsborough Therapy Rooms, located on Gainsborough Street in the centre of Sudbury, are about to celebrate their first year in business.
In early 2015 Hypnotist Benjamin Ryan had been working as a Hypnotherapist from a local gym, but due to a change in ownership he began looking for his own premises. When his friend Dann Read said that he was looking for office space to run his promotions business from they decided to look for something they could share.
Mr Ryan said:
“We looked for a couple of months, but everything was either too small, too big, required remodelling or was in a terrible location”
“When I first walked into 44 Gainsborough Street, I loved it. Run down as it was I saw so much potential. It was bigger than we really needed, but we realised that with the extra capacity in a town centre location we could actually start a really good therapy centre here”
“Very quickly James Leathers of JL Physiotherapy joined us as our resident Physiotherapist and since then we have also gained a resident counsellor in Sarah Turner, plus a number of other regular therapist that hire on a case by case basis”
Benjamin and Dann moved into the property at the beginning of June last year, which was a busy time for Mr Ryan as the day they picked up the keys his wife went into labour with their 3rd child.
The first two weeks were spent getting just the hallway and 1st therapy room ready for use. Since then they have readied a second therapy room, waiting area, and a kitchen with tea, coffee and food preparation facilities for therapists to use between sessions.
Dann Read said “The space here is so great and very versatile. We have been asked a few times about using it as a private meeting space for small businesses. We’re keen to make sure we don’t compromise on the quality of our therapy space, so we’ve been cautious about this, but after a few successful tests we hope to offer this in the near future.”
“Sudbury Speakers Club have also asked if they can use our large room as a rehearsal space for their competitive speaking team, so as an experiment we will be hosting them for one evening next month”.
With a great first year under their belts, the groundwork is laid for a strong second year for this fledgling local business.
